GATHERING #1


The following to be noted and/or reminded:

  1. Ian Pattie to write some dot point inferences of Aboriginal life from early explorers’ logs (Campbell Macknight book)
  2. Ian Norton to write something about snakes and Tasmanian Aboriginal life after Pattie gets some basic information from Patsy Cameron in respect of Aboriginal mutton birding and contact with snakes.
  3. Ian Norton, Dennis Wild, et al to identify appropriate/interested natural science people, field naturalists etc.
  4. Ian Pattie to contact Michael & Edwina Powell re language which might be applied to Aboriginal land use in the North East Nation in particular.
  5. Tom Dunning to pose some questions of interest about Tasmanian Aboriginal land use or lifestyle especially appropriate to the North east Nation.
  6. Ian Pattie, Tom Dunning, Mary Machen, Greg King et al  to start collecting and collating CATCHMENT FOOD STUFF for publication ... POSSUMpie, APPLEpie, MUTTONbird, BARRAcakes, DOUGHboyz, WALLABYpie, etc. etc
  7. Mary Machen to write something about Tasmanian Aboriginal art in the North East Nation.
  8. Ray Norman to contact Lola & Rex Greeno re identifying palawa/pakana CULTURALproducers, members of the QVMAG Aboriginal Reference Group, Teresa Sainty [palawa-kani], David Gough, Jim Everett,  et al [DONE]
  9. Ray Norman  co-ordinating role and an article 'placedness'... follow up MARCH 1
  10. Yvonne Adkins ... Expressed some interest inproviding an overview of the QVMAG's collection's appropriate landscapesdrawn, painted, etc.
  11. HERITAGE PROTECTION SOC. (TAS) to be approached as a possible auspicing body for funding accountability.
